Along the border of the Gulf of Salerno in south direction is the promontory of Punta Licosa providing the visitor with a huge variety of attractions. There is no other place like this small coastal strip to inspire you with legends and myths recalling the sirens who bewitched Ulysses.

Not only myths, but also history makes this an attractive place. Excavations were made and the archaeologists found pieces of the Bronze Age, the Greek and Roman Age. Then again, the Saracens used this coast too attacking the local population. More recently, there was also a tragedy at the end of Second World War. The submarine "Velella" was struck by enemy weapons and sank here.

You can walk in a beautiful pine grove descending to the sea, admire the crystal clear sea and rocks sculptured by the sea. This is the natural scene reminding the visitor of myths and history. In the nearby village of Pioppi you will find the Marine Museum where you can watch the submarine life: Octopus, morays, lobsters and sponges are the main characters in the aquariums.
